Mike returned my call for assistance within a few hours, he inspected the damage from the recent storm and sent me an estimate within hours. The work was completed the next day just ahead of more storms. He explained the entire process and was very professional. I hope I don’t need his services again anytime soon, but would not hesitate to trust the job to his team.Posted on Google![]()

Tycho Solutions recently replaced the original tile roof on our 23 year old residence. We could not be more pleased with their level of professionalism and the quality of work. Mike and Brock were great in explaining the process, the type of materials used, and what to expect. Their crew was cordial, friendly, and efficient. At the end of each day they used a magnetic device to retrieve discarded nails and fasteners, made sure all debris was inside their dumpster, and used a blower to eliminate the inevitable dust that results from replacing a roof. At the end of the project, they did a roof-top inspection of the work to make sure all details were addressed. We felt their pricing was very reasonable with top-notch customer service. We have no hesitation to refer them to friends!

Older Phoenix backyards installed with builder-grade sod or gravel start failing within a handful of summers. Sod dies under 115-degree heat and inconsistent irrigation, gravel drifts and collects weed seed in monsoon runoff, and grade that once shed water settles as clay soil expands and contracts through the wet-dry cycle. None of it can be solved by working on top of what’s there, the base underneath has to come out.
Newer construction carries a different failure mode. Builders lay turf and pavers on minimal base compaction to hit a closing date, so within two or three years the infill migrates, seams separate, and paver joints widen enough to trip on. Full removal and a properly compacted base is the only approach that holds through another decade of Phoenix summers.
We remove the failing base entirely and rebuild to a spec sized for Phoenix’s clay and monsoon cycle, not layered over the problem that’s already there.
From bare-dirt new builds to backyard remodels, Tycho Solutions installs artificial turf, paver hardscapes, and outdoor living structures engineered for Phoenix’s heat, monsoon rainfall, and clay-heavy desert soil.
Phoenix’s outdoor season runs most of the year, so we build outdoor kitchens as full installs, concrete or block bases, gas and electrical roughed in to code, weather-rated cabinetry, and stone or stucco-clad islands that hold up under direct sun. We coordinate gas line and electrical permits with the city before pouring the base so the finished kitchen passes inspection the first time.
As a full backyard landscaping contractor, we handle grading, irrigation, planting beds, and hardscape as one coordinated build instead of separate trades working around each other. That matters on Phoenix lots where drainage has to be solved before turf or pavers go down, and where low-water plant selection keeps a yard alive through summer without driving up the water bill.
Beyond the base and drainage work, turf selection matters for how a Phoenix yard actually gets used. Pet-friendly backing and antimicrobial infill hold up under daily dog traffic and summer heat, while a shorter pile height reads more natural next to pool decks and putting areas. We match pile height and infill to how the space is used, not a single default product for every yard.
A Phoenix patio has to survive foot traffic straight out of a pool at 115 degrees, so surface temperature and slip resistance drive material choice as much as looks. We lay a compacted road-base sub-grade with proper slope away from the house, then set pavers with polymeric sand joints that resist monsoon washout better than standard jointing sand.
Phoenix developers and homeowners bring Tycho in when a backyard needs to be built correctly the first time, not assembled piecemeal over several seasons. We coordinate directly with builders on new construction and handle full remodels on established lots, working under one Arizona contractor’s license from grading through the final walkthrough.
Backyard installations carry a 15-year manufacturer warranty on turf materials plus a 2-year workmanship warranty, built to handle Phoenix heat and monsoon runoff.
One team manages grading, base compaction, and final installation on your Phoenix property, so builders and homeowners get a single point of contact start to finish.
UV-stabilized synthetic turf and travertine, porcelain, or concrete pavers, selected for how they hold up under direct Phoenix sun and summer heat.
Tycho holds Arizona ROC license #364735 and carries full bonding and insurance on every backyard project built in the Phoenix metro.
Phoenix’s backyards span everything from mid-century ranch lots with decades-old grass and aging concrete to newly graded parcels on the city’s outer edges where builders leave nothing but compacted dirt behind the slab. Older lots usually carry mature trees and established irrigation lines that have to be worked around during excavation, while new construction starts from bare, rocky clay that has never been engineered to drain.
The failure point on almost every backyard system here is the base, not the surface material. Turf infill settles and seams open when the aggregate underneath isn’t compacted to the right depth. Paver joints widen and travertine shifts when the base doesn’t account for how clay expands after a monsoon soak and contracts again through the dry months that follow. Pergola footings poured too shallow into that same clay work loose within a couple of summers. Getting the base right the first time is most of the job.
Phoenix HOAs regulate backyard hardscape more than most people expect, from turf pile height and color to approved paver tones and maximum pergola height near property lines. Some communities also restrict visible outdoor kitchens or require screening around fire features. We confirm the applicable design guidelines before ordering materials so a build doesn’t get flagged at final inspection or during an HOA walk-through.

Turf, hardscape, and structures like a pergola all price differently, and a lot with existing drainage or grading problems costs more to prep than a new-build yard that’s already graded flat. We do not quote a project without walking the site, since guessing off square footage alone misses the base work that usually drives the real cost. Every quote is itemized so you can see what you’re paying for before signing anything.
We build new installations and full replacements, not small fixes layered onto a failing base. As a hardscape contractor in Phoenix, we see yards where a quick fix on old base material fails again within a season, so we remove the base and rebuild it correctly rather than layer new material over the same problem. It’s the same with a pergola builder in Phoenix job: if the footings are undersized, we reset them instead of bracing a structure that’s already shifting.
Poor drainage is almost always a grading problem, not a landscaping problem, so we regrade the yard to carry water toward the street or an approved drainage point before any turf, pavers, or a putting green installation in Phoenix goes in. Skipping that step is the single biggest reason backyard projects fail here within a year or two, since Phoenix’s clay soil holds water long enough to undermine a base that wasn’t sloped correctly from the start.
Yes. We work with developers on model home landscaping and builder packages, and with HOAs and commercial property managers on common-area turf, hardscape, and shade structures. As a backyard landscaping contractor in Phoenix, the process is the same either way: grade and prep the site correctly, then install turf, pavers, or structures built to hold up under heavy foot traffic instead of a single homeowner’s use.
Tycho Solutions holds Arizona ROC #364735 and is fully licensed, bonded, and insured for backyard construction work. Permits in the Phoenix area typically apply to structural items like a pergola or an outdoor kitchen builder in Phoenix project with gas and electrical work, not to turf or paver installation alone, and we pull whatever permits the scope requires before construction starts rather than leaving that to the homeowner.
A straightforward turf install usually runs a few days once the base work is done, since most of the schedule is excavation, grading, and compaction rather than laying the turf itself. A paver patio installation in Phoenix on the same size area takes a bit longer because of base compaction, edge restraint, and paver cutting around pool equipment or structures.
Combined projects, turf plus a patio or pergola in the same yard, get scheduled as one continuous build so the crew isn’t remobilizing twice.
