Mike returned my call for assistance within a few hours, he inspected the damage from the recent storm and sent me an estimate within hours. The work was completed the next day just ahead of more storms. He explained the entire process and was very professional. I hope I don’t need his services again anytime soon, but would not hesitate to trust the job to his team.Posted on Google![]()

Tycho Solutions recently replaced the original tile roof on our 23 year old residence. We could not be more pleased with their level of professionalism and the quality of work. Mike and Brock were great in explaining the process, the type of materials used, and what to expect. Their crew was cordial, friendly, and efficient. At the end of each day they used a magnetic device to retrieve discarded nails and fasteners, made sure all debris was inside their dumpster, and used a blower to eliminate the inevitable dust that results from replacing a roof. At the end of the project, they did a roof-top inspection of the work to make sure all details were addressed. We felt their pricing was very reasonable with top-notch customer service. We have no hesitation to refer them to friends!

Gold Canyon’s foothill lots sit on decomposed granite and caliche at the base of the Superstitions, so a plain dirt or gravel yard erodes fast under monsoon runoff and holds almost no shade through a Phoenix summer. Most homes built through the 1980s and 1990s buildout still carry that original gravel-and-rock yard, never designed for real use.
A full backyard rebuild has to start below grade: compacted aggregate base, drainage graded away from the foundation, and footings sized for that caliche layer, all before turf, pavers, or a pergola go in. Skip that groundwork and every surface above it settles, separates, or washes out within a season or two.
We grade, compact, and drain every Gold Canyon backyard before turf, pavers, or a pergola foundation goes in, so the finished space holds up.
From artificial turf and paver patios to pergolas and putting greens, Tycho Solutions designs and builds complete backyard living spaces suited to Gold Canyon’s foothill terrain and desert climate.
As a backyard landscaping contractor working Gold Canyon’s foothill lots, we plan planting beds, decomposed granite groundcover, and irrigation lines around the grading and hardscape that go in first, not after. That sequencing matters here: retrofit irrigation into a yard that’s already graded and paved, and you end up trenching through turf or paver base you just installed. We lay out the full plan, structure and planting together, before any material orders go in.
An outdoor kitchen in Gold Canyon needs a real foundation, not a grill on a slab: we pour a reinforced concrete pad rated for stone veneer and framed cabinetry, then run gas and electrical before any counter goes on. Summer heat here also drives layout, we orient the cooking wall and shade structure together so the space is usable through July and August, not just spring and fall.
As a hardscape contractor across Gold Canyon’s foothill lots, we handle retaining walls, seat walls, dry creek beds, and paver work as one connected system rather than separate quotes. Slope is the recurring problem: a wall or paver run that isn’t tied into the site’s overall drainage plan just moves the runoff problem to the neighbor’s fence line or your own foundation. We grade the whole lot before we set the first block.
A backyard remodel in Gold Canyon almost always means starting from a decades-old gravel yard rather than updating existing landscaping. We remove the old rock and any failed groundcover, regrade the full lot for drainage, then build out turf, pavers, a pergola, or a putting green as one sequenced project instead of a series of add-ons. That order keeps the finished yard from settling unevenly once monsoon season hits.
Gold Canyon homeowners and the builders who work these foothill lots choose Tycho because we handle the grading, drainage, and structural work a backyard rebuild actually needs before turf or pavers go down, not just the finish work most crews stop at.
Every base we compact and every paver or turf system we install in Gold Canyon carries a written workmanship warranty, not just the manufacturer’s material coverage.
One crew runs your turf, pavers, pergola, and putting green as a single sequenced build, so grading and drainage happen once, not per trade.
We spec aggregate base, travertine, porcelain, and turf backing rated for Sonoran Desert UV and heat, not big-box material sized for milder climates.
Tycho holds Arizona ROC #364735 and carries the bonding and insurance Pinal County requires for hardscape and grading permits in Gold Canyon.
Gold Canyon’s foothill lots built out through the 1980s and 1990s tend to run larger than typical valley subdivisions, most handed over with a plain gravel or decomposed granite yard. That leaves more usable square footage exposed to full Superstition Mountain sun, with no existing hardscape or shade structure to build around. A backyard remodel here usually starts from bare ground, not from reworking an existing patio or lawn.
The part of a Gold Canyon backyard that fails first is almost always what sits under the finish surface. Compacted caliche and decomposed granite shed water fast during monsoon season, so an ungraded or poorly compacted base channels runoff toward the house instead of away from it, and turf or paver joints on that soft base heave and separate within a year or two. Pergola and outdoor kitchen footings need the same treatment, or they work loose as the ground shifts through summer heat and monsoon saturation.
Gold Canyon is unincorporated, so design review here usually runs through an HOA rather than a city planning department, and those associations regulate turf color and pile height, paver and stone tone, and pergola height more tightly than material type itself. We confirm a given HOA’s palette and height rules before ordering material, so the finished yard clears review on the first submission.

Cost depends on lot size, slope, and how much of the yard is bare gravel versus existing landscaping, so there’s no single number that applies across every Gold Canyon foothill lot. A small turf and paver patio project runs far less than a full build that adds a pergola and the kind of work an outdoor kitchen builder in Gold Canyon typically prices in. We walk the site and price the actual scope before any number gets attached to your project.
Turf backing breaks down under years of direct Arizona sun, and once the infill has compacted and the seams have separated, resurfacing a section rarely lasts through another summer. An artificial turf installation in Gold Canyon replaces the base along with the turf, so the new system doesn’t inherit the old drainage problems. The same applies to an aging paver patio installation in Gold Canyon: resetting a few pavers rarely fixes a base that’s already failed, a full reinstallation does.
It changes the sequence more than the material. On a sloping Gold Canyon lot, a hardscape contractor in Gold Canyon grades and compacts a stepped or terraced base before any patio, wall, or footing goes in, because a flat pad poured straight into a slope redirects runoff toward the house. A pergola builder in Gold Canyon deals with the same issue at a smaller scale: footings need compacted, graded ground under them, not native slope that will shift the posts out of level within a year.
Yes. We take on hardscape and landscaping work for HOA common areas, model homes, and small commercial properties around Gold Canyon, not just single backyards. A backyard landscaping contractor in Gold Canyon working a shared or commercial site starts with the same grading and drainage work a residential yard needs, just scaled to the site. Commercial hardscape and grading permits run through the same Pinal County process as a residential project.
Gold Canyon is unincorporated, so grading, hardscape, and structural permits run through Pinal County rather than a city building department. A putting green installation in Gold Canyon usually needs a grading permit if it changes drainage on the lot, and anything with a footing, like a pergola or an outdoor kitchen, needs a building permit regardless of size. Tycho Solutions is licensed under Arizona ROC #364735 and pulls the county permits directly as part of the project, so you’re not tracking down paperwork yourself.
Most Gold Canyon projects run from a few weeks for a single element like turf or a patio, to two or three months for a full build with a pergola, putting green, and hardscape all sequenced together. HOA design review can add time on top of that if the association requires drawings before work starts, so we submit for approval as soon as the design is locked rather than waiting until material is ordered.
