Mike returned my call for assistance within a few hours, he inspected the damage from the recent storm and sent me an estimate within hours. The work was completed the next day just ahead of more storms. He explained the entire process and was very professional. I hope I don’t need his services again anytime soon, but would not hesitate to trust the job to his team.

Tycho Solutions recently replaced the original tile roof on our 23 year old residence. We could not be more pleased with their level of professionalism and the quality of work. Mike and Brock were great in explaining the process, the type of materials used, and what to expect. Their crew was cordial, friendly, and efficient. At the end of each day they used a magnetic device to retrieve discarded nails and fasteners, made sure all debris was inside their dumpster, and used a blower to eliminate the inevitable dust that results from replacing a roof. At the end of the project, they did a roof-top inspection of the work to make sure all details were addressed. We felt their pricing was very reasonable with top-notch customer service. We have no hesitation to refer them to friends!

Desert Landscaping for Scottsdale

Artificial Turf Installation Services in Scottsdale

Artificial Turf & Paver Installation in Scottsdale, AZ

Scottsdale’s backyards split into two eras: older mid-century and 1980s ranch lots built around natural grass and flood irrigation, and newer custom builds on rocky, sloped desert parcels toward the McDowell foothills. Both sit on the same underlying problem, native caliche that will not drain on its own and will not hold a proper turf or paver base without real excavation first.

On the older lots, decades of grass and sprinkler lines have to come out before anything new goes in, roots, old PVC, and settled soil included. On the newer, sloped lots, the grading has to move monsoon runoff away from the foundation before a single paver or turf panel gets placed. Skipping either step is why so many backyard projects here fail within a year or two.

Built On Desert Ground

We grade, compact, and drain every Scottsdale backyard to the site’s actual soil conditions before turf, pavers, or structures go in.

Backyard Work We Design and Build in Scottsdale

From new synthetic lawns to full hardscape builds, we design and install outdoor living upgrades suited to Scottsdale’s desert lots, established neighborhoods, and long outdoor entertaining season.

Scottsdale residents invest in their homes and their lifestyles. Your outdoor space is an extension of your home’s quality and your personal aesthetic. Scottsdale’s winters are perfect for outdoor entertaining, and your yard should be ready to showcase your home and your lifestyle beautifully. Modern artificial turf and premium pavers make this possible, combining beauty, functionality, and responsibility in ways traditional landscaping can’t match.

Hardscape Contractor in Scottsdale

As a hardscape contractor in Scottsdale we handle the grade changes a lot of desert lots need before turf or a patio ever goes down: retaining walls, stepped walkways, and drainage channels that carry monsoon runoff around the house instead of toward it. We build walls to the height and finish a property’s design guidelines allow and set footings to the depth the soil requires, not a flat pour on native ground.

Backyard Landscaping Contractor in Scottsdale

As a backyard landscaping contractor in Scottsdale we plan the whole yard together, turf zones, planting beds, drip irrigation, and low-voltage lighting, so the hardscape and the greenery work off the same grading and drainage plan instead of being installed as separate projects later. That sequencing is what keeps a desert yard from developing bare, eroded strips where two systems meet.

Outdoor Kitchen Builder in Scottsdale

As an outdoor kitchen builder in Scottsdale we build the block or steel frame, run the gas and electrical rough-in, and set the countertop and appliance openings to the manufacturer specs for the grill, refrigeration, and burners going in. We finish the frame in a masonry veneer that matches the home and holds up to direct summer sun without fading or discoloring.

Pergola Builder in Scottsdale

As a pergola builder in Scottsdale we design for the shade a backyard actually needs in July, not just the footprint that looks right on paper: rafter spacing, louvered or fixed roof panels, and a structure height that stays inside a property’s setback and design guidelines. Attached and freestanding builds both start with footings set to the depth the soil requires.

Why Builders and Homeowners Choose Us for Artificial Turf Installation in Scottsdale

Scottsdale builders and homeowners choose Tycho because we treat backyard work like structural work: real soil prep, real drainage, and a licensed crew that stands behind the install. No shortcuts on the base, no guessing on grade, and one contractor accountable for the finished yard.

Pet & Family Friendly

Every turf install carries a manufacturer warranty on materials plus our own workmanship warranty, built for Scottsdale’s UV load and summer heat.

USA-Made Turf

One crew and one schedule take a Scottsdale backyard from demo through final grading, hardscape, and planting without hand-offs between subs.

Proper Base Prep

We spec UV-stabilized turf, compacted aggregate base, and patio materials rated for direct Scottsdale sun and monsoon runoff.

Licensed & Insured

Every backyard build runs under Arizona ROC #364735, so permits, inspections, and liability are handled the right way.

Backyard Construction Across Scottsdale and the Valley

Scottsdale’s housing stock runs from established ranch-style properties near the center of the city to newer custom construction on the rockier, sloped lots toward the desert foothills. That range means we plan every backyard differently. An older lot usually needs old turf, irrigation lines, and block removed before we start, while a newer lot already has the grading cut in during the original build and just needs the finish work layered on top.

The part of a backyard that actually fails first here is the base beneath the finish material, not the turf or the pavers themselves. Caliche does not compact evenly, and a shortcut base under artificial turf or a paver patio shows up as low spots, standing water after monsoon storms, and shifting joints within a season or two. We excavate to the depth the soil actually requires and compact in lifts before anything decorative goes down, on a small patio and on a full-yard remodel alike.

Scottsdale carries some of the strictest homeowner association design review in the Phoenix metro, on wall height, visible hardscape materials, structure setbacks, and exterior finishes for pergolas and outdoor kitchens. We build to the material palette and structure limits a property’s design guidelines set, and we handle the City of Scottsdale permit side for anything that needs one, retaining walls over a certain height, electrical and gas for an outdoor kitchen, and permanent structures like a pergola or ramada.

Common Questions from Scottsdale Homeowners

How much does a backyard remodel cost in Scottsdale?

Cost depends on lot size, how much of the old yard has to come out, and how much hardscape versus turf versus structures you want built. A full backyard remodel in Scottsdale typically covers demo, regrading, drainage, and the actual turf, paver, and structure install as one project rather than separate quotes. We walk the site and give you a scoped estimate before any work starts, no dollar figure until we’ve seen the actual ground.

We install and replace complete sections rather than working piece by piece. A single relaid paver or a small section of new turf dropped into an old install almost never matches the surrounding material after a season of Arizona sun, and that seam is usually the first place the base gives out again. For artificial turf installation in Scottsdale and paver patio installation in Scottsdale, we build to full-system replacement so the finished yard reads as one consistent job.

Yes, and that grading work usually has to happen before anything else. As a hardscape contractor in Scottsdale we regrade the lot, add retaining walls or drainage channels where the slope requires them, and confirm water moves away from the house and toward the street or a drainage easement before we set a single paver or turf panel. Skipping that step is why sloped Scottsdale lots see standing water and shifting hardscape within a year.

Yes. As a backyard landscaping contractor in Scottsdale we work on commercial and multi-family properties as well as single-family homes, common-area turf and hardscape, courtyard seating, and shade structures included. Commercial sites go through the same site prep standard as a residential yard: grading, drainage, and a compacted base built for the property’s actual soil and traffic load.

Yes. Tycho operates under Arizona ROC #364735, fully bonded and insured, and we pull City of Scottsdale permits for anything that requires one, permanent structures, electrical and gas for an outdoor kitchen, and any retaining wall over the height that needs a permit. As a pergola builder in Scottsdale and for putting green installation in Scottsdale, the permit and inspection side is handled as part of the build, not left for the homeowner to sort out.

As an outdoor kitchen builder in Scottsdale we handle the block or steel frame, gas and electrical rough-in, and the masonry or stucco veneer finish, sized and framed to the appliances you’re installing, grill, refrigeration, side burner, or a full outdoor cooking setup. We coordinate the rough-in with your appliance selections before the frame closes up so nothing has to get cut open later.
