Tycho Solutions designs and installs solar panel installation in Fountain Hills, AZ, on new builds and existing homes. Modeled to your usage, not a stock package.

Fountain Hills built out mostly through the 1980s and 2000s, and concrete tile is still the dominant roof covering across town. The added elevation here means direct UV hits the roof deck longer each day than down in the valley, and the wider swing between hot afternoons and cool nights dries out the underlayment under the tile years before the tile itself cracks or slips.
That matters for solar because panels and racking sit on top of whatever roof is underneath, and mounting an array on tile that’s already past its working life means pulling it back off in a few years to redo the roof properly. We check the roof’s real condition before designing an array, so mounts land on a surface built to outlast the panels.
We model your actual usage and roof, then show you the production and payback before you commit to anything.
From custom hillside roofs to multi vehicle garages, our team designs and installs solar panel systems, battery backup, and EV charging built around how Fountain Hills homes and businesses actually use power.
Fountain Hills homes sit on hillside lots with rooflines that break across several pitches and compass directions. We map each roof plane, account for shading from surrounding terrain, and place panels on the sections with the strongest production instead of one uniform array.
Many Fountain Hills properties sit on larger lots that leave room for ground mounted arrays alongside or instead of roof panels. We size the complete system, inverter, wiring, and any electrical service upgrade, around the home’s actual usage rather than the roof alone.
Fountain Hills’ custom homes commonly include two and three car garages built for multiple vehicles. We install Level 2 chargers in the garage, tie them into the solar system’s wiring, and set up circuits sized for future additional chargers.
Fountain Hills sits at higher elevation than the valley floor and takes direct exposure during monsoon storms, when outages are more common. We size battery backup to keep essential circuits, refrigeration, garage doors, and communications running through an outage.
Some Fountain Hills parcels sit near the edge of town, bordering desert preserve land where grid connection is limited or costly to extend. For these properties we design standalone systems, battery bank, charge controller, and backup generation, sized to run a home independent of the utility.
Fountain Hills’ commercial buildings, retail shops, offices, and service businesses, mostly operate during daylight hours when solar production peaks. We design commercial arrays for flat and low slope roofs common on these buildings, sized to offset daytime electric use rather than a home’s evening and overnight load.

Mike returned my call for assistance within a few hours, he inspected the damage from the recent storm and sent me an estimate within hours. The work was completed the next day just ahead of more storms. He explained the entire process and was very professional. I hope I don’t need his services again anytime soon, but would not hesitate to trust the job to his team.Posted on Google![]()

Tycho Solutions recently replaced the original tile roof on our 23 year old residence. We could not be more pleased with their level of professionalism and the quality of work. Mike and Brock were great in explaining the process, the type of materials used, and what to expect. Their crew was cordial, friendly, and efficient. At the end of each day they used a magnetic device to retrieve discarded nails and fasteners, made sure all debris was inside their dumpster, and used a blower to eliminate the inevitable dust that results from replacing a roof. At the end of the project, they did a roof-top inspection of the work to make sure all details were addressed. We felt their pricing was very reasonable with top-notch customer service. We have no hesitation to refer them to friends!
Builders and homeowners in Fountain Hills bring us solar because we handle the roof, the array, the battery, and the EV charger as one coordinated project instead of separate contractors working around each other’s schedules and warranties. Everything ties into a single crew, a single permit set, and a single point of accountability.
Panels, inverters, and batteries carry manufacturer warranty coverage, and our installation work is covered separately so a workmanship issue never becomes your problem to chase down.
On a sloped lot with a multi-plane tile roof, sequencing the tear-off, the array, the battery, and the EV circuit takes real planning, not guesswork on site.
We spec racking, wiring, and conduit rated for the UV and heat this elevation puts out year round, not the minimum a valley-floor install would need.
A lot of Fountain Hills’ housing stock predates the electrical load a modern home with solar, a battery, and an EV charger actually needs. Service panels sized decades ago for a single-family home often can’t absorb an array, an inverter, and a Level 2 charger on top of existing loads without an upgrade, so a panel upgrade ends up part of many jobs here rather than an afterthought added late.
The failure point we see most on established Fountain Hills roofs isn’t the tile or the panel, it’s the flashing and roof penetrations where mounts, conduit, and old vents meet the underlayment. Monsoon wind drives rain sideways up here more than it does in the valley, and a penetration that was sealed correctly ten years ago can work loose enough to leak long before anyone notices water inside.
Many properties here fall under a homeowners association with design review authority over anything visible from the street or a neighboring lot, and panels are no exception. Some associations require low-profile racking, all-black panels, or ground-mounted arrays screened from view instead of roof-mounted ones. We check a property’s design guidelines before finalizing layout so the installation clears review on the first submission instead of getting sent back.

Tycho Solutions is a licensed Arizona contractor, ROC #364735, bonded and insured for every solar, roofing, and electrical scope we perform.
Roof, array, battery, and EV charger, installed by one crew on one schedule, not four contractors passing the job around.
Materials and mounting hardware specified for the UV load and temperature swings Fountain Hills sees at its elevation, not valley-floor defaults.
We commit to a schedule and a scope before work starts, and we hold both instead of adding surprises mid-project.
Yes. Solar for new construction in Fountain Hills gets designed alongside the roof and electrical rough-in instead of bolted on afterward, so conduit runs and panel placement are planned before drywall goes up. As a licensed Arizona contractor, ROC #364735, we pull the required building and electrical permits through the Town of Fountain Hills ourselves and coordinate inspections around the rest of the build schedule.
Most upgrade calls come from an inverter or panel array that’s aged past its efficient output, or a homeowner who added a pool, an EV, or a room addition after the original system was sized. A solar system upgrade in Fountain Hills typically means adding panels or a battery to the existing array, swapping an aging inverter, or in some cases replacing the whole system if the original equipment can’t support the added load safely.
It depends on roof complexity, system size, and whether battery storage or an EV charger is part of the scope, so we won’t quote a number without seeing the property. A single-story home with one clean roof face costs less to engineer than a multi-pitch hillside roof needing arrays split across several planes. We walk the roof, look at your usage, and put a firm written price in front of you before any work starts, no surprises after the fact.
A single failed panel, a tripped breaker, or a monitoring dropout is usually a repair: we isolate the bad component and get the rest of the array back online. It’s a different story when the inverter, the wiring, and several panels are all reaching the end of their working life at once. Replacing one piece of a system that’s failing across the board usually just buys a year or two before the next component goes, so we’ll tell you when full replacement is the honest call.
Yes. Contemporary desert-style homes with flat or low-slope roofs are common in the newer parts of Fountain Hills, and they actually simplify some of the array design since there’s no need to plan around multiple roof pitches. On a foam roof we check the recover and flashing before mounting anything, since a penetration through aging foam is a common source of leaks, and ballasted racking that doesn’t puncture the membrane is often the better option.
Yes, and the biggest difference from a residential job is scheduling: commercial work often gets phased around business hours so a shop or office doesn’t lose a full day of operation during install. We also look at parking areas as usable space, a canopy-mounted array over a lot can add capacity a roof alone can’t, especially on smaller commercial parcels. Permitting and inspection go through the same licensed process as any other job we run in town.
